Mtamu Kililo, a passionate advocate for impact design, is dedicated to creating a more equitable and just Africa. He believes in harnessing the power of design to drive positive change, particularly by fostering economic growth and resilience within marginalized communities.
As co-founder and CEO of MycoTile, Mtamu spearheads the production of sustainable building materials in Kenya. These materials, manufactured locally from readily available agricultural waste and mushroom mycelium, offer an eco-friendly alternative to conventional construction methods.
An alumnus of the African Design Centre in Kigali, a fellowship program by MASS Design Group, Mtamu honed his skills as a creative design leader. He currently also serves as a Consulting Architect at Cave_bureau, a Nairobi-based firm dedicated to exploring architecture and urbanism in harmony with nature.
